IC 417, known as the Spider Nebula, is a large emission nebula visible in the constellation Auriga, not far from the Flaming Star Nebula IC 405 and the Tadpoles Nebula NGC 1893.
The nebula IC 417 is linked to open cluster Stock 8 and is home to star formation processes: its estimated distance is between 6800 and 7500 light years.
The image is an LRGB combination, with R channel reinforced with Ha signal.
